Enterprise disk buying guide - Western Digital

Bookmark and Share

Hard disks are being challenged by solid state disk.

But just as tape is far from dead, we expect  that spinning disks coated in magnetic goop will be around for a while yet. Hence SearchStorage ANZ's listing of the enterprise disks on sale in Australia and New Zealand today.

The first instalment of our guide listed Seagate drives and offered a spreadsheet so you can slice and dice the data.

In this, the second instalment, of this guide, we consider Western Digital products.

Gartner's most recent analysis of the disk drive market, "Market Share: Granular Shipment Analysis, Hard Disk Drives, Worldwide, 1Q08-4Q08", places Western Digital as the second-largest disk drive company in the world, with 26.8% of the total market.
