Seagate has put a new drive into the hands of its resellers. The Cheetah 15k.7 is the company's first drive to combine 15,000 RPM speed with 600 gigabyte capacity and 1.6 million hours mean time between failures. The drive offers six-gig SAS or four-gig Fiber Channel interfaces.
Quantum gets Symantec's approval
Quantum Corp. said its DXi7500 disk backup and remote replication product is the first data deduplication system qualified by Symantec for its OpenStorage (OST) API direct tape creation capability to support Symantec Veritas NetBackup 6.5.4.
The OST direct-to-tape functionality coordinates with Quantum's DXi systems and automates the migration of data across disk and tape tiers. It lets customers create and manage copies of backed up data on tape through NetBackup. Symantec released the API to better integrate NetBackup with disk backup devices.
Southern Rural Water outsources to Global Storage
Victorian water company Southern Rural Water has signed up for Global Storage's EnvironmentReady disaster recovery services. The company decided to outsource and improve its disaster recovery practises after the recent Victorian bushfires.
Brocade verifies compatibility with Sorrento DWDM system
Brocade Communications Systems Inc. qualified the Sorrento Networks GigaMux dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) metro optical access system with Brocade's storage-area network (SAN) connectivity devices. The GigaMux product family extends the traffic of Fibre Channel and Ethernet simultaneously and in their native formats. GigaMux can turn one optical fiber into 80 virtual fibers or 40 full duplex channels, and support up to 10 Gbps of traffic per channel.
Delhi Stock Exchange turns to IBM
IBM signed a 10-year information technology services agreement with Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) to provide business continuity and disaster recovery services to DSE, and to remotely host and manage its IT infrastructure.
