Macquarie Telecom buys $1million worth of EMC CLARiiON to power cloud services

Macquarie Telecom has splashed more than $AUD 1million on EMC CLARiiON and Ionix products.

EMC has announced that Macquarie Telecom has written a cheque for "more than $1 million of EMC storage and automation tools to support its private cloud hosting services."

The release says the telco has splashed out for CLARiiON arrays and a range of software, and quotes Aidan Tudehope, Macquarie Telecom's Managing Director for hosting as saying “There is a growing demand for managed cloud computing-based services because they simplify an organisation’s IT environment, giving it flexibility and turning capital expenses to operational expenses, which is important in today’s economy,” . One of the key value points of EMC’s proposal was the synergy between its storage offering and its range of automation tools.”

The release adds that the new infrastructure will be used to "host customers’ digital media content, including mission critical web applications and e-commerce websites."

Macquarie has also adopted EMC's Ionix management software and Tudehope says the company expects  "... to realise savings of more than $260,000 over the next three years through the reduction of operational costs with the Ionix infrastructure and service management solutions."
