Are you going to VMworld 2010 in San Francisco next week? Your editor has been invited and is rather excited about the trip!*
One of the things we are most excited about is the program suggested by Alphawest staffer and virtualisation guru Rodney Haywood, who wants Australian attendees to donate their conference bags to charity.
“The plan is to get 20 people to commit before VMworld starts, so they remember to get their bag and then keep it in good condition to bring back to Australia,” Haywood wrote to SearchStorage ANZ. The bags will then be donated to the Salvation Army’s Community Centre in Dubbo, where they will be distributed to kids whose families struggle to afford a new school bag.
Haywood hopes donors will also fill their bags with stationery!
Don’t limit yourself to your own bag. As Haywood wrote “If someone can pry the bag out of the hands of someone else and get it back to Australia, no problem lifting some of our Yankee mates.”
Details of the program and a registration form are available on Rodney’s blog.
