Compellent opens ANZ office

Tiered storage specialist Compellent has opened an Australian office, after previously selling in stealth mode through partners.

The company has appointed Craig Stockdale its Managing Director of ANZ and has also hired Stephen Madden as its Solutions Architect. Sales people are next on its HR agenda.

Geomatic Technologies, Interconnekt, Regal IT, Sententia and XSI Data Solutions have come aboard as partners.

The company has also launched version 5 of its Storage Center 5 product to Australia customers.

Quantum’s new RDX

Quantum has launched its new RDX, a new removable hard disk backup product.

The new device sees conventional 2.5 inch hard disks inserted into cartridges so that they can be used in much the same way as tape backup systems.

Aimed at smaller businesses, the RDX system includes a dock - USB tabletop, SATA or USB internal versions are offered –some starter cartridges and Quantum’s GoProtect backup software.

Cartridges are sold separately in 160 GB, 320 GB, 500 GB and 640 GB capacities.

HDS CTO coming to Australia

Hitachi Data Systems Chief Technology Officer Claus Mikkelsen will visit Australia in October.

Mikkelsen will speak at the company’s Information Forum. SearchStorage ANZ is in the process of securing an interview with Mikkelsen.
