Today, the growing prominence of slower, high-capacity SATA drives are raising serious concerns about storage reliability, and dual-parity techniques like RAID-6 are emerging to combat the specter of multiple simultaneous drive failures. Larger drives face longer rebuild times, further increasing downtime and the risk of subsequent failures before a rebuild is complete. Burgeoning storage volumes are also increasingly difficult to manage, challenging administrators to deploy better RAID management tools.
